House and garden packages
Small decorative Queenslander house – Maryborough QLD
Project: House and garden renovation on a tight budget, while in keeping with character of Queenslander houses and local streetscape, and incorporating sustainability principles.
External works included:
- House painting to owner-designed colour scheme with water-based acrylics by Renascence Decoration and Design (Painters and Decorators)
- Paint sealing of all exposed fibro (mostly in garage)
- Extensive garden beds with both native and exotic plantings to attract birds and provide corner-block privacy from street
- Installation of fencing, rainwater tanks and compost bins
- Removal of half the back lawn for an organic vegetable garden with gravel pathways; and feature pots, sculptures and bird baths
Internal works included:
- Removal of lino, carpet and masonite flooring in order to satin-finish polish hardwood floorboards under
- Stripping of tired and discoloured oil-based paints from wardrobes, tongue-and-groove timber walls and kauri pine picture rails; and repainting to owner-designed colour scheme with water-based acrylics
- Feature-trim tiling to “lift” existing tiles in kitchen and bathroom
- Addition of internal timber fretwork to complement existing
